Senior County is open to any player of any age. Teams are selected at the beginning of the season based on prior play and the Derbyshire Restricted Tournaments, which take place each October. To be eligible to play, players need to have been born in Derbyshire, currently reside in Derbyshire, or have previously played for Derbyshire.
Derbyshire enter two teams in the senior county championships. The matches take place over two Saturdays (November, January) and a weekend (March) during the season. There are typically eight teams in a division. Depending on the division a team is in, it may be necessary to travel down to Oxfordshire or up to Northumberland.
A team is made up of a minimum 4 Female and 4 Open layers. A match consists of 2 Ladies Singles, 2 Open Singles, 2 Ladies Doubles, 2 Open Doubles, and 3 Mixed Doubles.
