Derbyshire Junior County Badminton
Derbyshire Junior Badminton run training sessions for talented young players and organise County teams at U18, U16, U14 and U12.
Our County Junior team’s play in the National Shires League. Fixtures are normally played on a Sunday, and teams are made up of a minimum of 4 boys and 4 girls and are the best of 20 individual matches; 4 boys singles, 4 girls singles, 4 mixed doubles, 4 boys doubles and 4 girls doubles.
We have close connections with local junior clubs who direct talented young players to us and we also run talent days, which focus on youngsters under the age of 13, for entry into our development squads. Although we normally take on young players by recommendation we are always open to any young player aged 17 or younger to come along for a trial.
As a County club we look to serve the whole of Derbyshire, which is quite a difficult task across a large County -so we are always particularly keen to hear of talented young players who may be based outside of Derby City and its immediate surrounding area.
Our head Coach is James Boxall who is supported by a team of qualified Level 2 and Level 1 coaches.
We also encourage our older juniors to take their entry level coaching qualifications and support sessions with our youngest players
